Starting from the cosmopolitan city of Bombay, fly to Kerala to experience the diverse beauty of Kerala, 'God's Own Country'. Crossing the Blue Mountains explore the princely city of Mysore and the richly carved temples of Hoysala Belur and Halebid. Carry on to the scattered ruins of the mighty Vijayanagar capital at Hampi. The forts and temples of the Badami and Aihole regions complement the grandeur of the former capitals, whose diverse architectural styles draw from the Turkish to the Dravidian. Finally enjoy a well-earned rest on the glorious beaches of Goa.
Day 01: Abroad / Mumbai
Leave for Mumbai. Arrive Mumbai in the night. Overnight.
Day 02: Mumbai / Cochin (Flt)
Morning city tour of Mumbai -. The Gateway of India, The Hanging gardens, rince of Wales Museum and the Gandhi Museum. Fly to Cochin. Arrive and check-in at the hotel. Time free for relax. Overnight.
Day 03: Cochin
Morning visit the St. Francis Church, built in 1503 by Portuguese Franciscan friars, The Jewish synagogue, one of the oldest in India. Afternoon visit of Cochin, with a fine natural harbour, which has been Kerala's center of trade for innumerable centuries. Visit the Mattancherry Palace or "Dutch Palace built in 1557 AD. Evening, strollalong the beach, particularly at sunset with the Chinese fishing nets. Enjoy the spectacle of Kathakali dance.Overnight.
Day 04: Cochin / Coimbatore / Conoor
Morning leave towards the Blue mountains, through the tea plantations and bettle trees. Arrive and check-in at the hotel. Conoor nested in the buttresses of Nilguiris is an important center of the plantations of tea. Later after a little rest, walk downtown, for the visit of plantation. Return to hotel. Overnight.
Day 05: Conoor / Ooty / Mysore
Morning after breakfast transfer to the station. Board on the mini steam toy train towards Ooty.. Arrive Ooty (2286 m). Upon arrival visit of the botanical gardens in the perfume of the Eucalyptus and one can find the natural products, the oil of eucalyptus, incense etc. Afternoon leave by road towards Mysore. Arrive and check in. Later in the afternoon excursion to Chamudi hills for the visit the Sri Chamundeswari Temple. Return to hotel. Overnight.
Day 06: Mysore
Morning visit the the Mysore Palace, the principal residence of the former royal family. Afternoon, visit the Somnathpur Temple built in the 13th century during the heyday of Hoysala kings. In the evening walk in the colourful Devraj Market. Time free for shopping. Overnight.
Day 07: Mysore / Sriranganpatam / Hassan
Morning drive towards Hassan. Enroute visit Srirangapatnam, the Summer Palace of Tipu Sultan built in 1784 AD. Arrive Hassan. Afternoon visit Belur and Halebid temple complexes built by the Hoysala kings. Overnight.
Day 08: Hassan / Hospet
Morning drive to Hospet. Enroute stop at Chitradurga to visit the fort which was built in the 17th century by the Nayakas. Later stop at Tumkur to visit the small Dravidian style Kaidala Keshava temple. The Teru-Malleshwara Temple has a 14m- high lamp pillar which holds enough oil for the lamp to be relit only once a year. Arrive and Overnight.
Day 09: Hospet / Hampi / Hospet
Morning excursion to Ha mpi. Visit the Vijayanagar city ruins near the village of Hampi are one of the most fascinating historical sites. The superb ruins are set in a beautiful landscape and are so majestic and imposing that they leave the visitor totally dumbfounded, awestruck and humbled. Return to hotel. Time free for relax.Overnight.
Day 10: Hospet / Pattadakal / Aihole / Badami
Morning leave for Pattadkal to visit the cluster of temples built at the foot of the hill. Visit the Viruprakasha Temple whose massive columns are covered with intricate carvings depicting episodes from the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. Next to it is the Mallikarjuna temples built in the same design. Continue towards Aihole, also known as the 'Cradle of Indian Temple Architecture' which has over 100 temples scattered around the village dedicated to Vishnu. Arrive and Overnight.
Day 11: Badami / Hubli
Morning visit of the Cave temples dedicated to Vishnu and Shiva which were cut into the hillside in the early 6th century. Overlooking the cave temples is a reservoir. Also visit the Bhootha Natha temples that lend their name to the lake just beneath the cave temples. Continue towards Hubli. Arrive and Overnight.
Day 12: Hubli / Goa
Morning leave for Goa. Situated on the western coastline of India, Goa is often referred to as "Goa Dourada," (meaning "Golden Goa") because of its beaches, forts, churches, waterfalls, seminaries, and caves.
Arrive and check-in at hotel. Rests of the day relax on the beach. Overnight.
Day 13: Goa
Morning visit to Old Goa - the ensemble of monasteries, convents and chapels will take you back to the days when the Apostle of the Indies, St. Francis Xavier, preached the Gospel of Christ. Afternoon, if you are lucky to be there on Wednesday visit the Anjuna Flea Market which is a major attraction for tourist from all Goan beaches. Later in the evening return to hotel. Overnight.
Day 14: Goa
Full day at leisure on the private beach. One can go for an Ayurvedic massage. Overnight.
Day 15: Goa / Bombay (Flight)
Morning time free for independent activities. Later in the afternoon fly to Mumbai. Upon arrival time freand change. In the night transfer to International airport.
Day 16: Bombay / Abroad
Fly to Abroad. Arrive in the morning. |
