Royal Wedding in Davigarh

About DeviGarh Nestled in the age-old Aravali hills of Rajasthan, the 18th century Devi Garh Fort Palace in the village of Delwara commands one of the three main passes into the valley of Udaipur. Sajja Singh, who hailed from the neighbouring state of Gujarat, was awarded this strategically significant principality, in recognition of his bravery and loyalty to Maharana Pratap against the Mughal emperor Akbar, at the battle of Haldighati (1576). The actual construction of the fort palace started only in the 1760s, under Raghudev Singh II, with further additions being made to the structure by the rulers who followed. The palace was absorbed into the state of Rajasthan in the 1960s, and was subsequently abandoned.
Today, after years of restoration and reconstruction, Devi Garh has regained its past glory. An imposing and impressive structure, it is now a unique all-suite boutique hotel, with 23 suites and 6 tents.
Devi Garh stands, quite literally, in two worlds: the traditional and the modern. Its ambience is an eclectic mix of skillfully crafted designs, both old and new, functional and purely aesthetic. Local materials like marble and semi-precious stones have been used in contemporary designs to create an elegant beauty. Personalized service complemented by a wide range of modern facilities goes towards making Devi Garh a comfortable and attractive retreat.

Location

Situated 26 kilometers North-East of Udaipur, Devi Garh is a convenient 45 minutes' scenic drive from the city. The combination of a traditional Rajasthani village, the towering fort and the temples, makes for an interesting mix. Udaipur is easily accessible via air from Delhi or Mumbai, with convenient road and rail connections too. Suite Description - Devi Garh Complex

The premium suite, Devi Garh, consists of two bedrooms (the smaller one being one of the Aravali suites). It is the ultimate in luxury with a private Jacuzzi, an attached black marble swimming pool and a pavilion, making it the finest and the exclusive suite of our Palace. It is also the most spacious suite with a large bedroom, bathroom, sitting, dressing and dinning areas. The Devi Garh suite and this Aravali suite share a common, private, black marble swimming pool. The two bedrooms are available together or individually. The concept behind the design philosophy of the Devi Garh suite is that of 'Shiv' and 'Shakti' - the male and female energies, embodied in Shiva, the Hindu God of destruction, and Shakti, the Goddess who personifies power and the destruction of evil. An integral part of the concept is the image of the bull Nandi, the 'vahana' (vehicle) of Shiv and also a devotee of the god.

Aravali Suite

The Aravali suites are the most spacious, bright and tastefully designed suites. They offer complete privacy and have the spectacular view of the Aravali hills. They are in total four Suites all interconnecting with the courtyards having a sculptural element or a water body. They all have balconies or large Bay windows, separate dressing, dinning and sitting areas.

Palace Suite

The palace suites are each individually designed gems - literally, for their decor uses semi-precious stones as inlays. Pristine white marble forms an effective baseto offset the rich and elegant colors of Rajasthan, with local skills being used in a modern manner. hotel devigarh

Garden Suite
The Garden Suites at Devi Garh each have their own private lobby, garden, tented terrace, and overlook a vivid rectangular field of flowers. In each of the suites, the décor (based on local green marble) brings the serenity and beauty of the garden inside. A carved marble tree of life surmounts the headboard of the bed, adding to the effect of a garden within the room.

Tents

Traditionally Rajputs were known for their constant forays into the wilderness – either to wage war or on hunting expeditions. Setting up of portable tents became one of the most important rituals, giving order and stability to their nomadic lifestyle.

For the adventurous traveler of the 21st century who is looking to be closer to nature, Devi Garh provides 6 tents at the foot of the Palace, as an option. These tents erected from October to March, recreate the desert sky on the cloth ceiling with patterns of clouds and stars (made up of shimmering mirrors). In order to match comfort levels with modern day lifestyles, the tents are provided withelectricity, heaters and fans, telephone connection and an attached marblebathroom, with running water.

By climbing a few steps, one can participate in al that the Palace has to offer or alternatively enjoy the simple pleasures from the verandah of the tent such as soaking in the sunshine, listening to the chirping birds while gazing out on to the lush green vegetable garden laid out in a Mughal pattern.
